Expert Q&A

For the first year my twin boys had the same schedule. Now at 16 months they are "tag teaming" me when it comes to naps. One needs his nap around 10a.m.-ish and the other won't go down until 12ish, just when his brother is waking up. Should I try to keep one up later or make the later napper sleep earlier? (This is what I have been doing and it's not working.) I really need the same schedule in order to have some order to the day, otherwise I am always giving lunch, snack and waiting to go out.?
Hang on. The good news is that they are just about to drop the morning nap sometime in the next few months.
In the meantime, you can change their sleeping patterns, but it can be tricky. You can choose the easiest time to put them down for a nap and either one should adjust just fine. However, you have to stick with it. It could take two or three weeks of frustration before the new nap time takes effect.
You'll be surprised, but probably by the time you get a plan together, they won't even be taking a morning nap any more.
