Expert Q&A

By Traci Kurtzer
Obstetrician and Gynecologist

Is there a way to find out if you are having more than one baby by blood work? I know someone who is 2 months along and she said that her doctor told her that she was having triplets. I asked her how she knew that and she said that the doctor took blood from her stomach. Is that possible to know from a test like that?

Not that I am aware of. The only way to diagnose triplets is from ultrasound.
