Expert Q&A

I am having my fourth baby. This time I have experienced a lot of sickness, and my weight gain is up. Now, I am measuring four and a half weeks farther along than I am. My uterus is to my belly button at 15 weeks.?

The answer is YES. Being pregnant for the fourth time certainly qualifies you as an expert, and I urge you to bring these concerns to your healthcare provider as soon as possible.

As you probably know, nausea in pregnancy can vary greatly in each pregnancy, but is also more common and severe in pregnancies with multiple gestations. Measuring large for dates is also normal, and may be due to a number of factors, including an error in calculating your due date, the presence of fibriods, twins, or simply a variation of normal.

Weight gain can also vary in each pregnancy, but you certainly have three good reasons to discuss the possibility of an ultrasound with your healthcare provider.

The frequency of twinning greately increases with maternal age and parity (the number of times you have been pregnant).
