How does your age affect having twins as opposed to having a single baby?

Well, both a twin pregnancy and advanced maternal age are independently associated with higher risk for gestational diabetes and pregnancy induced hypertension. So your risk is doubly increased if you have both issues. Still, many older women, if they maintain good health and exercise, can have very uncomplicated pregnancies.
