Expert Q&A

By Paul Coleman
Psychologist Family Therapist

I gave birth to twins Nov. 27, 2002. I lost one, and I was wondering if my son is going to have a problem when he gets older?

How you respond to your child's passing and how you respond to your son's questions about his twin will have more bearing on how he copes. You don't want to overprotect your son. As he gets older, answer his questions straightforwardly without giving him cause for worry that he might die. Overall, he should not have any problems.
