You've Got Heart!
Valentine's Day Gifts to Make with Your Kids
By Kymberly Pratt
Valentine's Day is the perfect time of year to get crafty. These simple craft projects are fun for the whole family and are truly gifts from the heart!
Construction Paper WreathYou'll need:
- Red, pink and white construction paper
- Small and large paper plates
- Empty cereal box
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
- String or ribbon
Here's what you do:
Open the cereal box so you can trace circles onto it. You can also use other scraps of cardboard you might have lying around. Trace a large circle on the larger plate and a small circle on the inside of the larger circle. Carefully cut around the larger circle and on the inside of the smaller one. This will form your wreath.
Cut 1x4-inch strips of construction paper of each color. You can use straight edged scissors or fancy ones that are designed to make patterns in the paper.
To attach the strips onto the wreath, glue or tape each strip like a roll onto the wreath. Randomly attach different colors or form a pattern.
Finally, cut out three different sizes of hearts and glue them together one on top of the other. Attach them in the center. Hang your wreath on the wall or in a doorway.
Tip: You can use this same craft for many different holidays or to celebrate other special days such as birthdays. They also make great teacher and grandparent gifts!
