You've Got Heart!
Valentine's Day Gifts to Make with Your Kids
By Kymberly Pratt
You'll need:
- Lamination sheets, already laminated with nothing in the middle
- Hole punch
- Markers
- Red yarn
- Scissors
- Candy hearts
Here's what you do:
Draw a large heart on a plain piece of paper (you'll want a large heart so an 8x11-inch piece of paper will work best) to make a pattern for your project. You might be making several and this will make it easier.
After you have your template you'll want to laminate two sheets of lamination paper with nothing on the inside. You could also use wax paper for older children or even poster board. You want to end up with two 8x11-inch sheets for each project.
Trace the heart on both sheets of lamination paper and cut each out carefully. Next, lay one heart on top of the other, and carefully poke holes on the outside of each heart, making sure they both match each other.
Next, weave the yarn in and out to secure the two hearts together. Make sure to leave a 2-inch section before you tie off the yarn. When you reach your 2-inch section, place some candy hearts inside the pocket you have created and then continue to sew the sides and tie it off. Make a fun tag to attach to your sweet candy gift!
You'll need:
- Construction paper
- Paint
- Scissors
- Pencil
Here's what you do:
Fold the construction paper in half and draw half a heart on the fold. Open up the paper and cut the heart out.
