Hemorrhoids During Pregnancy

But Dr. Berens reports that some women won't have any symptoms. And the odds of suffering from hemorrhoids increases with a woman's age and the number of births she's had. "Some studies suggest that up to 30 percent of women will have symptomatic hemorrhoids," Dr. Berens says. "One study in pregnant women using proctologic examination during the last three months of pregnancy found that 9.1 percent had anal lesions (mostly hemorrhoids but also a few anal fissures). These researchers also found that 35.2 percent of women had similar difficulties on the postpartum evaluation within two months after delivery. Women who had pain with defecation, late delivery and larger babies were more likely to have problems."

Minimizing the Discomfort
While hemorrhoids can't always be prevented, there are strategies to minimize the risk factors and the size and discomfort of the hemorrhoids, should they occur. "It makes sense to try to prevent them, as new moms who are trying to breastfeed, recover from childbirth and get enough rest don't need anything else on their plates," Dehn says. "The difference in pain between a small hemorrhoid and a medium-sized one is tremendous, so anything a woman can do to help prevent them from forming or from worsening is well worth the effort."

She recommends trying to prevent constipation, which can get trickier if a woman is taking added iron supplements. But the basics still apply: Increase fluids (six to eight glasses of water a day) and the intake of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Dehn says one of her favorite tips is that any fruit with a pit will help with constipation, including apricots, plums, cherries, peaches and prunes – either fresh or dried.

I had them really bad with both of my boys, the second one especially. I tried the increase in fiber, the pads, the creams, nothing helped. They were still there after I had him and then I finally found a natural remedy that was a miracle treatment. I got it at http://8c2002qsr29y3w6cp9tm4mds93.hop.clickbank.net/. Seriously, I tried it and they were gone! So worth it!!
