Advice for Parents of Babies Who Don't Follow the Rules

No matter the situation, when your baby doesn't go "by the book," it can be unnerving. And what is the first thing most moms do when their baby does the unexpected? They go buy a book. But is that the best answer?
"Baby books can help to provide you with the basic nuts-and-bolts baby care information, but they are no substitute for your core parenting instincts," says Douglas. "While you will initially swear that you have no parenting instincts, you'll be amazed how quickly these instincts kick in as you begin to relax and gain confidence in your new role as someone's mom or dad."
