Valentine's Day Fun
Recipes and Crafts Made with Love
By Kymberly Pratt
Want to let your children know you love and cherish them this Valentine's Day? Set some time aside and make these fun crafts together! Your children will be so proud of their projects, which are perfect to share or give to friends and family.
Adult supervision is required for all projects.
You'll need:
Almond bark
Peppermint candies
Wax paper
Large plastic baggies
Small bowls
Microwave
Here's what you do:
1. Put the peppermint candies in a large baggie and let the kids smash them into small pieces and powder form. A wooden spoon, wooden mallet or even the bottom of a heavy, plastic cup work well for this. Pour the candy into the small bowl and set aside.
2. Lay out a piece of wax paper on the counter, keeping in mind that the bark will be hot when you pour it on. The wax paper needs to be about 2 feet long.
3. Microwave the almond bark per the instructions on the package. After it is melted, work quickly by pouring about a 1/2 cup of candy in the bowl and mixing it with the bark. Carefully pour the bark onto the wax paper and spread it into a thin sheet that's about 1/4 inch thick. Let the kids sprinkle some candy over the top. Allow the bark to dry for several hours to ensure it is dry all the way through. Once dry, break the bark into small pieces or strips. Kids will love to help with this part!
