Snowflakes and Snowmen

Winter Crafts for Little Ones

By Kymberly Pratt

Pages:  1  2  3

Turn the shoebox on its side so the opening looks like a "store window." Have your child paint the inside of the box black to represent the "sky" and the bottom green to represent the "grass." Remember, the box should be turned on its side.

While the paint is drying, put together the snowmen. Glue three large white pompon balls together, one on top of the other. Then, help your child dress his snowman. Use markers to draw dots, extra scrap fabric to tie a scarf and a little black piece for his hat. Be creative. You can make as many snowmen as you want.

After the paint has dried, drop some dots of glue on the "sky" and sprinkle glitter on the glue to resemble snowflakes. When the glue dries clear, your child will see the glitter. Allow it to dry completely, then help your child glue his snowman into the box on the grass. Display!

Winter Garland
This garland can be customized for any occasion or holiday.

You'll need:
Blue construction paper
Grey construction paper
White construction paper
Clear glitter
Glue
Stapler
Old large cardboard box

Here's what you do:
Cut the construction paper into strips approximately 1 inch by 10 inches. Lay the strips into an old cardboard box and cover them with glue. You can help your child paint on the glue with a paintbrush or just squirt it over the design straight from the bottle. Sprinkle glitter onto the strips before the glue dries. Allow them to dry completely.

Bend one of the strips to make a circle and staple to secure. Then, proceed to help your child make more circles and add them to make a chain.
