"Keep your attention off the way the house looks – and consider your health! Get all your hand hobbies next to your resting area, because the last thing you'll be able to do is sleep!"
– Heather Shepherd, Curtice, Ohio

"I got bored after the first few days and found that by having friends over for coffee frequently, I could stay with the 'adult' world. I also kept my laptop close by so I could keep working when I felt up to it, indulged in a lot of books and magazines and kept a steady supply of things to do with my daughter on the table nearby."
– Shirley Kawa-Jump, Fort Wayne, Ind.

"Bed rest isn't going to work if you're fretting about all the things you should be doing and worrying about whether everyone is OK without you. Bed rest is mainly for the body but I really believe you need to have a peaceful mind, too. Have lots to occupy your mind. It helps if you choose activities that also give you a sense of accomplishment. Books are good, but you can only read continuously for so many days. Knitting, crochet, needlepoint, rug-hooking – any of these hobbies are good to learn if you don't already do them."
– Sherry French, Ontario, Canada
